Situation
The client had a new product used in oil production. The product has a high intellectual property content and consists of very complex machined parts. Existing manufacturing costs were limiting the product’s market appeal.
Analysis
The brief was very simply to reduce the manufacturing costs, but with a capable and reliable supplier, and not risk the intellectual property of the product.
Solution
To protect the IP it was agreed that only suppliers in the EU would be used, and all suppliers would sign Non Disclosure Agreements. In addition, for the first phase of quotation only a sub-set of components would be used. Using IngPro ’s database of suppliers, a number of companies meeting the criteria were approached for quotation. A short list of suppliers was drawn up and discussed with the client.
The final two companies were then requested to quote for the complete sets of parts, for both samples and volume production. A potential supplier was chosen and audited with the client.
IngPro Ltd then managed the initial supply ensuring correct manufacture, as well as associated documentation, and full part traceability. After satisfactory delivery the supply chain was handed over to the client.
